Candidate Eligibility

All potential candidates wishing to transfer from a current law enforcement position to the Kansas City Missouri Police Department must meet the following critera:

  • Candidate must have been a full time non-probationary law enforcement officer with at least (1) year of experience.
  • Candidate must have a current Peace officers Standards & Training (POST) Class “A” certificate at the time of application or shortly afterwards.

Lateral Transfer Canadate Process

All candidates must complete the following steps as part of the application process:

  • Physical Abilities Test
  • Polygraph
  • Background Investigation
  • Oral Board
  • Physical Examination
  • Psychological Evaluation
